Across the garden is Fruit Hill House built around 1730. Having fallen into ruin in the 1940's, it is currently under restoration and is the home of the Devane family. Golf, fishing, riding and sailing are available in the neighbourhood and there are 14 sandy beaches within easy driving distance (10-25 minutes). Local pubs have regular music sessions and there are several very good restaurants in the area. Historical sites include 12th century abbeys, The Hook Lighthouse, Duncannon Fort and the Tall Ship "Dunbrody". J.F. Kennedy Arboretum, Dunbrody Abbey and Kilmokea Gardens are nearby.
