The Garden Cottage

In 1997 all that remained of the Garden Cottage was its centuries-old chimney with the bread oven to one side; from the rubble that remained, it was painstakingly rebuilt to the original dimensions, but with a new twist : windows ! As a result this romantic cottage for two has a light and spacious feel within the thick stone walls. While the tiny gallery bedroom may pose problems for anyone elderly or infirm as it has a low sloping ceiling and a winding stairs, most people will find it cosy and comfortable, and enjoy the wonderful view of the countryside. With a wood-burning stove, plenty of books and board games as well as TV and DVD, this peaceful haven can be hard to leave, but the surrounding area is well worth exploring. Fruit Hill is ideally situated for touring Ireland's South Eastern counties, and is less than an hour's drive from Rosslare ferryport.
